Changelog
NCM Online started development around 18 September 2026, as public OPEN//77 servers became available. It has changed almost daily since. This page has two parts:
- Release notes as the game shows them. Generated from the in-game patch notes, so they match what players were told.
- Project milestones. The larger changes, reconstructed from the git history and the public decision record. Dates are the day a change was decided or shipped, as recorded. Where only the build is known, nothing more exact is claimed.
In-game release notes
Fuel, Autofixer markets and arrivals 2026-09-29 · build 0.5.0
- Fuel. Your Machine now burns fuel as you drive; the level sits under the odometer. Park at a pump in your car and type /ncm.refuel (€$2 a litre). /ncm.fuel sets GPS to the nearest station.
- Autofixer markets. Autofixer terminals around the city are markets of their own. Stand at one and press E (pad X) to connect; after that, pick it in F6 Market from the list on the left and buy from anywhere.
- Map. Fuel stations and NCM locations now appear on your map.
- Arrival. Joining puts you straight back where you left, instead of a stop in the Badlands and a second loading screen.
- Fixed. /ncm.refuel works. This page is shorter.
Scanner, quick menu and fixes 2026-09-28 · build 0.5.0
- Scanner. Tab or Caps Lock brings up the Scanner. Hold it on a car within 60 m to add a machine you have not met to your Machine Index. Driving past a car no longer adds it.
- Quick menu. Hold Start on a pad, or B on the keyboard, aim and release: Hub, Race graph, Call a race, Map and GPS.
- Health. Your health now regenerates, a full bar in about a minute.
- Keyboard. F6 works without a mouse: Enter activates the focused control, and Left/Right move sliders and dropdowns.
- Fixed. Street Calls (F5) can be entered again, and are free. Your venue ring now moves to your next race on its own. The WHEEL tab's FORCE slider now really changes your wheel's strength.
Player Exchange 2026-09-28 · build 0.5.0
- Exchange. F6 now carries direct Driver-to-Driver trade in the shell.
- Exact assets. Machines, their fitted Parts, loose serialized Parts and eddies are shown by identity on both sides.
- Dual consent. Every edit creates a new revision. Both Drivers must confirm that same revision, and the whole exchange settles together or not at all.
- This first form is synchronous: both Drivers stay online. Persistent listings and escrow are later.
Economy v1 2026-09-27 · build 0.5.0
- Money. Scheduled events now charge entry and pay out. Solo completion, contested placement and field bonuses are separate, authored figures.
- Receipts. Every settlement writes an itemised statement you can read back. Nothing is paid twice, and an aborted event refunds.
- Clean driving. Race Tags are awarded on the facts of your run, and clean driving carries a capped bounty.
- Research. You can submit first-hand findings about machines you have driven.
- Starting balance is granted once. Free practice and qualifying mint nothing.
Lap ghosts 2026-09-26 · build 0.4.9
- Practice. Your personal best lap replays beside you as a car that cannot be hit, in practice and time trials.
- Your car. The ghost wears the machine you actually set the lap in.
- Ghosts never appear in a contested race, where another car on the road would be a lie.
Parts and the Machine Index 2026-09-25 · build 0.4.7
- Parts. Serialized components with real fitment rules, bought from Market stock and fitted to a machine you own.
- Machine Index. A record of what you have seen and owned, with the evidence behind each entry.
- Knowledge. Driving a machine begins to record measured facts about it.
Weather, wheels and the world 2026-09-22 · build 0.4.2
- Weather. The session's sky is synchronised for everyone in it, and affects what a machine can do.
- Rigs. Multi-vendor wheel, pedal and custom-rig support with force feedback, through NCM Rig Bridge.
- The city. NCM's named locations are on your map, and the race route draws a real GPS line.
Project milestones
October 2026
- 22 Oct: NCM Online's source and this website are prepared for public release under the MIT License. Online development resumes after a five-day pause. [Infrastructure]
- 17 Oct: Work pauses on Online while a native single-player host for NCM 3.0 is started. It is now on hold again. [Infrastructure]
- 13 Oct: The Race Week reset is decided to go live from the end of run 4. Flying machines are barred from street races. Rig Bridge 0.1.9 stops re-acquiring every controller every 2 seconds. [Racing, Hardware]
- 12 Oct: AVs fly on NCM engineering. Markets that behave, and cars on the Exchange. The experimental propulsion laboratory. [Experimental, Economy]

- 4 Oct: NPC race cars become real cars with owners, and money circulates through the Paddock. NCM Gearbox, NCM's own manual transmission, is designed and its first phases built. The Observer spectator mode is built, as are Race Week's verdicts and seven-day timeline. [NPCs, Economy, Racing]
- 3 Oct: Race Week is specified and built: the three-day run, advertised speed limits, a continuous social curve, championships crowned at hour 72, the hall of champions, the collapse (as a dry run). Online is updated from the development server with its mod stack. [Racing]
- 1-2 Oct: Paddock races become the player-facing organised races: qualifying at the venue, mixed NPC/human grids presented as one field, fair grids, F7 grid snap, DNS at green, the flag and a penalty ceremony. Authored ovals with rebuilt racing splines. OPEN//77 platform upgrade to 2.31.21+op77.124. [Racing, NPCs]

Adding to this page
- Player-facing release notes are authored once, in
ncm/online/resources/ncm_world/client/landing_content.lua. The game shows them on its landing panel, and this site generates the list above from the same file. - Milestones are added here, in
site/content/changelog.md, newest first, one line each, with a category. A server restart is not a release.
